BEST OF 2009 EXCEPT FOR BOOKS Happy New Year! I hope you're all significantly hungover from last night's revelry (and thus, probably not reading this until January 8thor whatever) and looking forward to a whole new goddamned decade.
It's gonna be the Teens! I mean, it starts as the Tweens, but then it grows up, wrecks the deals on oakley sunglasses car, dates awful people, nearly flunks out of school, and finally starts sneaking booze and smokes. A lot to look forward to. Here at First cheap oakley glasses Offenders, we decided to give you one last peek over our shoulders at 2009 with our BEST OF THE YEAR (EXCEPT FOR BOOKS) list. I usually love best of books lists, especially when I'm on them. But when I'm not, I'm pissy. Nuff said. Feel free to add your own entries and debate ours in the comments. And away we go: BEST TELEVISION SHOW Jeff: Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives Karen: The Amazing Race Lori: Lost Neil: Eastbound and Down. Holy crap, this brings the funny, brings the raunchy, and none does cheap oaklys "disdain" like Katy Mixon. Alison: Breaking Bad, Modern Family, and (guilty pleasure edition) Jersey Shore. WORST TELEVISION SHOW Lori: Most of it. But my final answer, Regis Reality shows. Neil: Unfortunately, I'd have to say cable news. Just loud, dumb, and repetitive, as Jon Stewart's amazing Daily Show reveals night after night. When will they get it? BEST TELEVISION SHOW DISCOVERED ON DVDNeil: 30 Rock. Can't believe it took me so long to finally catch this. Outrageous. TV SHOWS WE'VE GIVEN UP ON Lori: Heroes, Chuck, The Simpsons Neil: The Apprentice (celebrities? That sucks ass.) BEST MOVIE (BIG SCREEN OR DVD) Lori: (Bigscreen) Star Trek, 2nd place Harry Potter and the Half red oakley sunglasses Blood Prince. Hey, I a geek, did you expect me to name an indy art film? (DVD) The Hangover I laughed my ass off. Big time. Neil: Up. I cried through the first ten minutes, and then a bit more after that. And it was still funny as hell. To all you fuckers at Pixar, stop doing that. (Psstactually, don't stop, but let me keep some dignity at least) WORST MOVIE (BIG SCREEN OR DVD) Jeff: (Bigscreen) The Ugly Truth. Cussing horrible. (DVD) Confessions of a Shopaholic. Cussing terrible Karen: 17 Again Lori: (Bigscreen) Transformers Jesus. Repetitive and stupid. (DVD) Knocked Up just saw it this year and it sucked bad, and just plain pissed me off Neil: Star Trek. I truly hated this. It just really disappointed me. The editing was choppy, the pace was way too fast, and the whole "Time Travel, Blow Up Vulcan" angle was stupid. Hated it even more than the awful, over hyped, miserable Let the Right One In. BEST CURSE WORD Jeff: Using "cuss" to replace profanities.
What the cuss? Cuss that! (Stolen from Fantastic Mr. Fox.).
