The event will occupy both floors of Crosstown Station and showcase a half dozen performers, including the funk/soul/hip hop orchestra the Hearts of Darkness; the People's Liberation Big Band, featuring a who's who of local jazz stars (including Jeff Harshbarger, Brad Cox, Mark Southerland, Shay Estes, Jake Blanton, Ben Leifer, Bill McKemy), DJ Fat Sal, Pope of Dope and the Average Joke's Municipal Jazz Band. Cover for this extravaganza is $12 in advance, $15 at the door. A costume is highly recommended. The theme: "Living In A Space Age."Hadacol was another in a long line of local bands that deserved to be bigger than it ever got. Like the Architects, they were a band of brothers, Fred and Greg Wickham. And like the Architects, they hurled themselves into their live shows, playing a bristling mix of roots rock, honky tonk and country music. But bigger life issues, like families and careers, interceded and Hadacol dissolved a few years ago. Friday he and some friends will perform a "family friendly dinner hour show" at the RecordBar, 1020 Westport Road. One of his guests will be D. Clinton (Donnie) Thompson, who has also accompanied Robbie Fulks and some Springfield glitterati, including the Skeletons and Brian Capps.
